Mount Saint Mary Helens
Mount Saint Helens "burped" today, letting off a substantial ash "explosion" which led me to reflect a little about the mountain. I remember when the volcano blew its top. In fact, its my first memory of any news event and the image of the mountain exploding is burned on my mind from when I was three. I also thought back to when we visited the national monument. My little brothers were 5 and 7. They kept calling the volcano Mount Saint Mary Helens, after my dad's sister mary helen. They weren't being funny, they got it confused with their aunt they've only seen maybe 5-10 times in their lives.
