Superman just got a little more interesting
From http://idontlikeyouinthatway.com/
"For a movie with an openly gay Jewish director (Singer), a not-so-openly gay co-star (Spacey) and a rumored queen (Routh), this movie was surprisingly filled with Christian imagery and blatant comparisons between Superman and Jesus. I'm sure this came as a shock, because most people probably fully expected to see Superman running on his tip toes and blasting his ice breath by doing that thing where you pretend to blow a kiss with your hand."
I confess, I haven't seen the film yet. I actually like comic book movies (even though I've never seen any of the x-men films) but I haven't had a chance to see it. The show looks like a good time, although I have a few reservations about Lex Luther. Gene Hackman as Lex Luther is the epitome of a super hero nemesis to me (perhaps tied with Jack Nicholson in Batman) and I don't want to compare that character to Kevin Spacey's turn. I like Spacey. I don't think he's the greatest actor of his generation, but I think he's usually stellar.
(now to the quote above)
Wait.....Kevin Spacey is gay? Eh, I don't care either way...but did anyone else know this rumor? Hoo? Smash? I confess though, the part of this quote that got my eye was that Routh is a rumored queen. Now, I really just want to see a pic of Routh as a queen.

Atheletes slapping each other on the butts is gay.
You know, I don't worry about it. This came from Advocate magazine originally. Of course they are going to talk about the gay undertones. Its a gay magazine trying to make money.
gay in the lame sense.
That's right, it's the gays making us all think and act gay, haha. That is paranoia at its best.
Actually, Ruby is spot on, it was a gay magazine that, like every other entertainment related magazine, ran an article about one of the biggest movies coming out of the summer and of course their verison of the movie was tailored towards their audiences. It was the rest of the media that hopped on the proverbial gay wagon.
BTW nicola, if you saw a guy walking around Main St. in your town with blue tights and red underoos over top of them wearing a cape, I highly doubt you would give him the benefit of the doubt. ;-)
i've never heard kevin spacey is gay. but whatever. he's a great actor. he won my love in the usual suspects and american beauty.
and i really don't think there's some gay conspiracy to turn every man gay. and there's nothing necessarily gay about metrosexuals, either. in fact, the whole idea of metrosexuality is that orientation is irrelevant.
and i must confess a desire to see routh as a queen, too. how cool would that be. a queen and the manliest man in american pop mythology.
The new superman is hot, kevin spacey has always been weird. :)
i've heard that spacey rumour before... much like i've heard jodie foster is also gay. i just wonder why sexuality ever plays a role in it all... i say who cares.
gay tabloids are worse than the brits.....however, I still totally want to see Routh as a queen.
People used to say Christopher Reeve was gay back when he was playing Superman. Heterosexuality and tights just don't mix well.
Hmm... dint know spacey was gay. Doesn't really change anything, but that's interesting, isn't it? If it's true, that is.
I would be upset if an athlete slapped me on the butt. Gay or not.
What color shirt do you have to wear to be gay? I think pink shirts, for instance, are in style among men right now.
And metrosexuals are not necessarily any one orientation-- it's a style thing.
I'm excited to see superman.
I have heard frequently that Kevin Spacey is rumored to be gay or at least bisexual. And this goes back years, at least to the time of LA Confidential.
As to wether he actually is or not...Some organization in the UK published a list of famous people in the arts (or something) that were gay...and he was on it, but then they made this big deal about retracting his name from the list, so who knows.
He did previously date Naomi Campbell...but George Michael dated Brooke Shields too...so that could mean nothing!
we had a furore here .. some gay activists wanted us to change the name of 'fairy' penguins at the taronga zoo .. to 'little' penguins .. coz 'fairy' is a gay connotation ..
luckily good sense prevailed ! when it was pointed out that the little 'fairy' penguins were around way before it became a gay connotation to gays .. so there ..
Never heard that about Kevin Spacey, but then, I usually don't pay attention to entertainment news. I mean, I'll pay attention when someone points something out, but rarely seek it out myself.
Still haven't seen the new Superman. Not sure I want to compare it with Lois and Clark, one of my favorite shows in high school/early college.
I've seen Superman 5 times! I think it's because deep down inside I'm a fan of the superhero. The movie is fun as long as you keep in mind that it's just a comic book movie. I really do think comic book movies have certain limitations no matter how it's approached.
And yea, I had heard Kevin Spacey's sexual orientation. But maybe that's because I'm more connected to the Biz...
