Several editors I know find it a great way to keep in touch w/ social media without having to have a full-on blog. They have #kidlit chats and #pubtips and other hashtags that people can use to search key terms.

You might have noticed that I import my Twitter to my FB. It's easier that way for me, because I rarely go to Facebook. Though I've been trying to figure out the app that might cut down on how much comes in from Twitter--sometimes I'd rather it just be at Twitter and not be copied onto FB, depending on whether it's super-work-oriented or not. Yet I also have a lot of friends on Facebook who are writers, editors, agents, and so forth, so it's nice to connect to them there if they'd rather be there.

But the problem then becomes that I think some of my personal friends get tired of seeing the shop talk. So I'm still working on a solution to that.stacerhttp://www.stacylwhitman.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6611342.post-46649279120859421512009-09-04T23:08:56.686-04:002009-09-04T23:08:56.686-04:00I love it! But personally, I like it more than Facebook. Facebook is too littered with games and apps and it drives me crazy. (I only like it for photo albums really.)
I've made several "friends" via Twitter. And a lot of great business contacts. In fact, my current job came by way of someone recommending me on Twitter and LinkedIn.
My favorite thing on Twitter is to follow a few of my favorite celebrities, musicians, and comedians. And it is a great way to get breaking news.
It does make a huge difference in enjoyment to be following your own friends.I've noticed the biggest difference between people who like it and people who don't, tends to be how many friends they are "following."
Also, many retailers are now offering exclusive deals on Twitter. You are missing your audience?!?! Also, 11% is a pretty small number of teens using it when you consider the percentage of the population they represent and the percentage of that demo that uses MySpace, Facebook, and other apps. So far it has my vote for the most over rated thing of 2009.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16318056886420896448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6611342.post-65144896069388652602009-08-31T22:34:45.181-04:002009-08-31T22:34:45.181-04:00Haven't used it, no interest in doing so. I was like you. For a long time I didn't get it. I even interviewed Biz Stone (founder) and still didn't get it. Then I signed up and started attended Social Media Club functions, got a Blackberry, etc. Some of my biggest clients have come from Twitter, I've met great people and new friends. I understand the redundancy issue, esp with Facebook.
