Posh and Becks go Splat...

I admit, I like Beckham. I don't think he's over-rated, I don't think he's coming to play for MLS just for his last paycheck, and he's an extremely talented soccer player. The hype is deserved. I think he'll be a boon for American Soccer. What soccer in this nation needs now is more attention. We have the young talent, our national team looks to be back on track, we've got players over in Europe, but what the sport is lacking is attention. Oh, Posh and Becks are annoying, and their friendship with the Cruises? Eh... But, Thanks to the paparazzi machine that is Posh and Becks, soccer may actually start getting a little more notice. To welcome them into the country, W did a magazine shoot of Posh and Becks...and I must say..David Beckham isn't hot in this spread. I don't think its tasteful, or even erotic...its just sleazy. Its like they are trying so hard, but it doesn't really work. Here's a couple of pictures:

I saw a bunch of those too, and I thought they were more like creepy than sexy. I hate them, even.

The pics were nothing special.

I agree with you regarding Beckham. After seeing him play in the World Cup last year, I understood the hype on the field. What I don't understand is the hype around them as a couple. No one in England cares about them, yet they are in all the tabloids and now that is going to be the case in the States, especially with Posh's (my fave Spice Girl BTW) tv show. I think it comes down to the fact that they both come from lower class (you can tell from their accents) backgrounds and like most Americans these days, want to be famous at any cost. I think this is more so with Posh than Beckham, who has real talent and, well, not sure WHAT, if anything, is real with Posh.

those were definitely ridiculous. it was like a subtler form of "bad porn" (not that i have first hand experience with bad porn but you catch my drift). it was kind of like, "tacky sleazy". i'm embarrassed for them. (apparently i'm a fan of the quotes today)

The first one looks like, "hey honey, want some of THIS?"

"Want some of WHAT? There's a camera on me."

The second one looks like he's trying to tan on the car. In long pants. Wearing a cape. Uncomfortably.

Yeah. Weird photos.

the Beckham pics were eeeewwwwwwwww. However, I watched his press conference /introduction yesterday and had to smile when he corrected the football/soccer thing, and immediately he did an interview with the BBC and just called it football. That will take some time :-)

Steve, I need to disagree with your opinion. Whilst everyone here is fed up with Posh, they LOVE Beckham. He is easily our most loved footballer, and when Steve McClaren was forced to admit recently he was wrong to drop Becks from the England squad, the country breathed a sigh of relief. You can't fault his commitment to his country.
Enjoy him whilst you have him. We miss him.

Anne-

We'll take good care of him....and even though he'll be in MLS..I don't think he'll be rusty playing for England.

I was totally going to blog about these pictures. When I saw them, I just thought...I could never imagine a circumstance in which I would pose for pictures like this with my husband. The photos are really just bizarre when you think about it.

Posh USED to be my favorite spice girl back in the day (now I don't have one) because of all of them she seemed to fly under the radar and wasn't so blatantly grasping for attention. Guess I was wrong about that!

The whole JLo-Cruise-Beckham triumvirate is just so ODD to me.
