The Colonial List Serv Strikes Back. Again.
So, here's another fairly humorous attempt of humor, sarcasm, friendly ribbing and a bit of pissiness for good measure that makes the Colonial list-serv so enjoyable to read.

I'm new to the area, and would love some tips on dating ideas out
here. The mall, smithsonians, and spy museum have already been
recommended to me, along with Typhoons and The Hotel Washington, but
I'd love to hear what other dating tips you all have. Guys, where do
you like to take your ladies? And ladies, where would you like to be
taken to?

I'm compiling a spreadsheet with the information I'm getting, and
would love to share the list once complete. Please, everyone, send me
your best ideas and we'll put this together!

If someone would like to post this on the DC and Langley Listserves,
I'd appreciate the extra "spread the word."

Hello-

I'm working on getting that spreadsheet put together, and I want any
last minute date ideas. I've already used two of the ideas that were
sent to me, and they went over VERY well. Just ask the girl with the
red hair about Great Falls, MD. What a terriffic date!

Send your last responses fast! I'm going to try to have the
spreadsheet ready by friday. Girls, this is your chance to tell us
what you want!

All I want is a date with YOU, Ben. Will you put me on your other spreadsheet,
the one that has all the girls you want to take out this summer?

Finally, a chance to let my wishes be known! It's about time someone cares
enough to ask what the girls want.

I can't speak for anyone else, but listed below, in no particular order, are
some of my favourite date ideas.

- I really love long evening walks along the Potomac. I can't get enough of that
fresh river air.
- Parking at Gravelly Point is really great. Especially if you lay a blanket
across the hood or roof of the car and point out star constellations. The planes
flying overhead are neat-o too.
- I really love to roller skate and if I could get a guy to roller skate with
me, then, well, I might just want to marry him.
- My most favourite date though is having the guy I'm with sit on the couch and
watch SportsCenter while I'm cooking him a pot roast in the kitchen. To me, THAT
would be the best date!

Hope this helps Ben!

Oh gosh Ben...
I've been just living for the day that someone would ask me what I'd like to do,
too. I'm so happy to help all you guys not have to put any thought whatsoever
into the date. :) Yea!!!

My top three choices are:

*I'd love a good evening where I could rent an action movie, like... a "Dirty
Harry" movie and then bake some hot, fresh chocolate chip cookies and then give
someone a backrub while he watched and drank all the milk in my house.

*I think it would be great if I could go on a hike with a guy. I would pack a
five course picnic including my own homemade chicken cordon bleu, cold dilled
potato salad, warm fresh whole wheat rolls, a spring greens salad dressed in a
light balsamic vinaigrette and a berry-pear tart. I'd be only too glad to make
two trips up to the top of the hill: one for the picnic and the second to bring
the nonalcoholic sparkling apple juice and a lovely blanket to cushion my dates
tushie.

*Or in the cold Washington winter, I'd really like to make Pot roast with
potatoes Anna, hot homemade rolls, green beans amandine, roasted tomatos and for
dessert: a berry biscotti served with creme caramel. Afterwards, we could
listen to some symphonic music while I massaged my date's feet.

Oh yeah... that's what I like to do. Yep, those are my favs. Thanks so much for
asking what I'd really like to do. The only thing better than having to think
up a man's dates for him would be washing his car with my hair. And then going
in to clean his house. Maybe we could have a competition among mormon women to
see who could clean the guy's house the best... they could win the date and get
to make little Ben some pot roast?

I read a lot of email and for a second I thought I was reading a
different list where this kind of vitriol is common. I don't know what
your dating lives or social lives are like, but I can say that I find
this kind of response to be rather unsavory. It is not only unfriendly
but is also outright demeaning to another's efforts to provide increased
happiness and enjoyment to other members of this community. His efforts
should be commended not meet with derision. If you don't like his
attitude, don't date him.

Fuzzyredsocks, I don't know you so don't know how much of this was meant
as joke or jest. Yet I don't think this isn't an appropriate place for
this kind of humor. If you wish I can show you places that would enjoy
this kind of wit and sarcasm, alt.religion.kibology is a good place to
start.

You want to know my favorate date idea? Two chicks at the same time.

Doubling-up ain't all that easy, specially for a dude like me, but you should
try it out.

That's outstanding. Kudos to my sisters that were there first with the vitriol. You know if I was on that list-serv, I would have been the first to respond with a nice warm glass of shut the hell up.
