Review: Kabluey
Last week I was reading about the down-fall of the Indy (Independent) movie. The author lamented that where Indy Comedies were fresh a few years ago, they are now stale, pretentious, and formulaic. After reading the article, I decided to go check out an Indy comedy, last year’s “Kabluey.” The film lacked the pretensive nature of a Juno-there were no wise-cracking, age weary protagonist. Just a confused, immature 32 year old man-ling who learned a few of life lessons while roasting in a blue costume. The film’s plot is basic. The protagonist, Salman, goes to live with his sister in-law and their two homicidal toddlers while his brother is stationed over in Iraq. Salman tries baby-sitting, but is a disaster at it. Then his sister-in-law gets him a job as the mascot to a failing Internet start-up. Day after day, he stands at the side of the road trying to hand out flyers (he can’t grip things with the costume on). He grows up a little and helps out his sister-in-law before his brother gets home. Ok, its formulaic, but isn't tiresome. The acting, especially by the lead (played by the writer-director, Scott Prendergast) sparkles. The screenplay could be bogged down by blue suit jokes, but somehow it doesn’t. Chris Parnell, always a delight, plays a small lead.

Liz Lemon for VP!!
Gov. Palin-I'm sure she's qualified, and a great choice for VP, but I see pictures of her and I think Tina Fey in 10 years. Of course, I'd pick Fey for my VP candidate too.

Believe in Your Dreams
Speaking of dreams, SNL is bringing back Tina Fey for Saturday's show. If only the musical guest wasn't Carrie Underwood. At least 30 Rock is coming back April 10th.

Flight of the Conchords
I heard about these guys a while back, but didn't pay much attention until I heard them on "Fresh Air" on NPR. Well, on Tuesday-I was able to watch about 20 minutes of their pilot episode. This song is about when Bret sees Jermaine's ex-girlfriend at a party. These two are hilarious..and cute, but mostly hilarious. Oh, and on the bottom video? Check out the binary solo. I was sold after this.

Memorable Quotes from the latest episode of My Name is Earl on nbc.com
I could've talked about my latest adventure with a dentist, the total "small world" experience my roommate and I had talking with the sister missionaries over dinner concerning Cindy or blogged about the Magnolia Bakery banana pudding that I made tonight for dinner or shared the recipe. Instead, I'm giving y'all memorable lines from the latest My Name is Earl. Enjoy. Oh, and if they are silly or dumb... I'm on full strength Tylenol 3. Good times. I recently stumbled upon Fred Armisen's MySpace page and was a little astonished to realize that he's doing the upkeep himself. He's also blogging intermittently and on the page I found gems like this:"I made up a word to describe the feeling. Bittersweet. Use it as much as you want. "
I haven't had a chance to check out the videos, but go check it out, or as Fred says describing
The Mary Timony Band:"Mary is such a great songwriter and guitar player, check out her music if you can. Or want to. You know what I mean. I just didn't know what to write after saying how great she is."

Colbert cooking and talking about feminism with Jane Fonda AND Gloria Steinem. What more could you ask for? Okay, maybe a kiss from Fonda? An icecream three-way? Rush Limbaugh for the ladies?

5 Days and counting. My laptop, digital camera, a pair of headphones(these were $10.00 2 years ago) and my gba were stolen wednesday while I was at work. The lappy wasn't even 6 months old, and I'm not sure when I'm going to replace it. I'm debating getting a desktop, partly of cost and they are harder for thiefs to carry out of the house. I'm definitely open to suggestions right now. I'll eventually replace the digital camera, but I doubt I'll replace the gameboy.
Anyway, I had a three day weekend which was very nice (partly because I got 10-12 hours of sleep each night) even if I didn't venture too far from home the whole time. I did finally meet two "internet" friends which was fun, we got a new shower curtain (refer to above paragraph as to why), watched some Grey's Anatomy(Did they find McSteamy straight out of the soaps?), gaped at the flamingos at the National Zoo, started embroidering again, watched conference, had another bout of pinkeye and was teased mercilessly by Megan.
I also caught the Season Premiere of SNL. I'll just go on record saying that I'm not a Dane Cook fan, but the season premiere wasn't bad. A couple of skits were pretty good, weekend update was the highlight but the Musical guest wasn't. Seriously, I'm not sure what's up with the Killers but for putting out decent albums they really stink on snl. Here's their two numbers:
**(Steve Martin is not. He disputed this Mormon urban legend on npr a few years ago. According to Deseret News, the Osmonds and various others, Elvis Presley indeed was going to be baptized. He died before the baptism date.

Sometimes, there's days where you just need a silly laugh for a few minutes to chase the blues away. I wasn't going to post this because it's made at least three or four of my friend's blogs, but I thought I'd share. I'm not a Weird Al fan. Really, he bugs but this video doesn't. Does it get any better than Donny Osmond as a backup dancer (okay, Hoff as a backup dancer would be pretty darn sweet).
Enjoy.

For some reason, Chris Parnell has been my fave snl cast member since he was rehired. No more Merv the Perv, Sean DeMarco, Tyler, Warren Bloder.....oh, and he can rap too.
I'm not ready to give up on snl even though Dane Cook is hosting the premiere. Seth Meyers as the weekend update host? Sweet!!
Update: Thanks Laurie, its gonna be Seth Meyers with Amy Poehler. These two may be better than Jimmy and Tina..

So long Tina and Amy. Its been a good 6 or so years with Tina Fey as the weekend update chair. We'll miss your sketches, I still laugh late at night at your nfl cheerleader re-enactment with barbie dolls. Point/Counter point with Jimmy Fallon, and your banter with the other cast members and guests (Steve Martin, just doing a cameo). I'm a little sad to let you go, but I hope your new show is better than Friends, and that NBC gets some karma justice for moving Rachel Dratch. (Amy Poehler will still be a cast member-according to the "rumors")
Hello Jason! Actually, I'm not sure what to think about him. Right now I really just remember him as being the "not" Andy Samberg. However, he was part of the "a-hole" couple which I thought was funny, and I remember him with Scarlett Jo that was clever. The jury's out. Just be a lil' more Bill Murray and less Norm McDonald, m-kay?
