Reflections on my birthday--

I was a christmas morning present to my parents. They, my last remaining grandparent, my aunts and uncles don't let me forget the story of my birth (thats for another day), but I am Christmas Joy. The first reaction from people is "what a horrible birthday, do you get one gift?" but really, its a pretty sweet day to have a birthday. Sometimes, I feel a little neglected, but then i remember that i was born on a really cool day. Many people around the world celebrate my day, and this year, kwanzaa, hanukah, and christmas were all on the same day (i think kwanzaa was). How cool is that?

Now my parents, especially my mom, have tried to keep my birthday special. I usually have a birthday party in the afternoon, i get to pick christmas breakfast and christmas dinner (when we were little the only days we got sugared cereal was on our b-day, so i got to pick out the sugared cereal-an extra treat). My mom was traumatized a little from an incident on my first birthday. We lived in Montana at the time, and were spending Christmas at my Great-Aunt Verna's house. No one had baked me a cake, it was late afternoon, and they hadn't celebrated my birthday yet. So my Aunt Verna took a fruit cake, stuck a candle it and they sang to me. The funny thing is, I didn't hear about this until a few years ago. Between that, and the time I baked, cooled and frosted a cake when I was 15...then I started singing to myself, and woke up my mom-who realized that I was neglected, they really try to make my day special.

This year, I had a pineapple upside down cake. No icecream, but that was okay. I've found as I've gotten a little older..that its more about taking care about others then me anyway, or at least i try to live by that anyway.

Hey, Sherpie sherp! Happy birthday! You were in Maeser? That's SO weird. I used to go out there every once in a while, but I think we've had this conversation already.
