I wasn't going to blog about this because I don't blog about a lot of things in my life, and I consider this kind of private. However, I decided that if my experience will inspire even one person to make sure they go to the Doctor regularly, then that' s more important than my "privacy."
About two months or so ago, I noticed a lump in my breast. I was concerned, but didn't enough to go to the Doctor. Then about a month ago, I had to go to the Doctor for an unrelated issue (asthma fun) and the Doctor asked me to schedule a physical. She found a lump in each breast and referred me to a Surgeon. I met with the surgeon today, and it appears that they are benign. However, I will still need to get a sonogram done and I may or may not get the lumps removed (luckily I don't need to do a needle biopsy) depending on if they are cysts or fibrous masses.
Anyway, moral of the story is don't be dumb like me and wait 8 years before you go to an OB-Gyn. Even though you're in your 20s, bite the bullet and go make sure your body is healthy. Its really not as bad as you might think it is.
If I do end up getting surgery, I want this t-shirt to wear into the hospital.

When I said I would shave my head with and for you, I truly meant it. (And I am very grateful neither of us will be bald this summer.) But let me just say, you are on your own with that t-shirt. I will wear a shirt that says, "Joy's Team," though.
i just wish health insurance would cover mamograms sooner.
at any rate, i'm glad it was good news!
your boobies have feet? and they're blue? Get out!
that's why the doctor was so concerned. my poor blue footed boobies.
e-The t-shirt rocks! If it wasn't sold out, I'd be wearing it right now!!!
Joy's team--Sounds like I'm a Special Olympic participant---not that there's anything wrong with that. :)
I'm glad your lovely lady lumps will be ok ;) And, that shirt is amazing and I want one too.
I totally waited forever too to go the gyno....even after I discovered a massive lump. I just went two weeks ago and everything is okay thank goodness.
I will admit the shirt is starting to grow on me. I just don't think I need to attract any more attention to that area than I naturally do. THe poor birds would get tired from walking that far!
