MySpace and More
I just found this in my inbox on MySpace. Um, I'm not even going to rant about this. It speaks for itself.
Dear Joy, I came across your profile and I have to confess my heart just about melted at the sight of you. As ashamed as I am of my feelings -- as I am married -- I know that -- I live everyday with the knowledge that -- somewhere down the road -- at life's end -- it will all feel so painfully incomplete because I never knew a woman of your signature beauty.
My wife is out of town for a month, but in a month's time I will be called to leave this place for good and live in a desolate, dreary town. My only hope -- my overwhelming desire -- is to know what it means to be with a woman I am physically and mystically enamored with. I want you to know that whatever you choose (and I'm not so far gone into foolishness as to believe you'll accept this invitation), just remember that I chose you. If you decide to reply, please use my Yahoo address. As repugnant as this invitation might seem on the surface, I assure you that I write this from a state of conflict I no longer have the power to repress.

That is absolutely OUTSTANDING! Christmas Joy seduces unknown married Dromedaries? That's BRICK-tacular!
What power you have....who knew? Lol!
ooh, think of all the deliciously mean things you could say to this creep! i hope creepy mcreeperson gets whats coming to him one day. what an absolute fool.
eeewwwwwww!
wow. just wow. i'm not sure what else to say.
This just futher proves my point that MySpace is truly a place for hookups and cruising for people while never leaving your house. Nothing against you Joy, but anyone that gets propositioned on MySpace has it coming to them. Besides, it's just an email, you can just hit delete and never think of it again.
That's just what you get for being so physically and mystically enamoring!
Write him back and ask him if this approach has ever worked for him. Inquiring minds want to know.
Ahh, MySpace...responsible for gathering perverts everywhere.
Steve, that's kind of silly.
Seriously Joy, I know people that use MySpace MAINLY as a singles bar. They post maybe not the best "first appearances" photo (not saying you did, since I never saw your MySpace account) and wonder why guys (Yeah, it's the guys) contact them. I mean, the whole premise of meeting people is usually to meet people for dating-esque reasons.
At least that was personal and genuine. I had a Friendster account and always got contacted by girls that had webcams they wanted me to pay to watch.
So what did you end up doing?
Steve, I know people who use their MySpace account as a single bar too. Honestly, what I thought was silly was how your first post reminded me of that old "rape explanation"---the one that goes "she dresses provocatively so she had it coming to her" I know (or hope) you didn't mean it that way at all, and I know that you're going to run into some crazies on myspace, there's more people, its the internet, so there's a higher concentration of loonies on there.
Oh, I ended up just deleting the e-mail. I was tempted to e-mail him what I thought of him, but thats just prolonging contact with the weirdo, ya know?
Anyway, Myspace is a crazy ol' community.
