Reason 14 I'm on MySpace:
After telling several friends about how Rhett Miller writes his own messages to his "friends" on MySpace, I thought, I'd just post his latest ones..with Photos of Rhett Miller of course. And there's a Dolly story. How cool is that? The baby is apparently Rhett's little boy, Max.

Hello MySpace friends,The Believer has been out for a month and a half. Since I've been in the trenches promoting it I've gotten to meet quite a few of you MySpacers. Worlds collide! Very cool.My new band, The Believers, is turning into a finely-tuned rock machine. It's come together so naturally.
My buddy Kenny introduced me to this rocking guitarist named Tommy Borscheid. Kenny was right to describe Tommy as a fashionable and good looking guy. Dude's got it going on. Tommy introduced me to the rhythm section with whom he's been playing in his band, Lowtalker. They are very cool and sweet and easy to hang with. On bass guitar is Greg Beshers. He's a frontman in his own right for an outfit called The Pillcrushers. Speaking of crushers, on drums for The Believers is Angela Webster. Tomorrow night's show in NYC is Angela's birthday party, We're playing in her hometown on her birthday at Webster Hall (her last name's Webster... Cool, right?), so expect a "Happy Birthday" sing-along.
We are having a great time. Right now we're working up "Terrible Vision" and the Beatles' song "Girl" (that I contributed to a Rubber Soul 40th anniversary tribute album) to add to the set. The set we're doing is about a third Believer, a third Instigator and a third Old 97's songs, so there is something for everyone. Everyone who's cool anyway.Oh yeah...FREE SONG! Notice the advertising-style capitalization?I have recaptured control of my profile's music portion and uploaded new stuff for you.
The aforementioned "FREE SONG" is a song called "Come Around" that appears on my previous solo record The Instigator. I've made "Come Around" downloadable. It's free. A little gift from me to you. The rest of the songs, you just get to borrow."Une Question" is available, an alternate version of my song "Question". It's in French. Same music, it's just that the vocals, they're in French.I've left "Fireflies" up because the world needs more Rachael Yamagata. "Fireflies" is a duet we recorded. Also I've included "Victoria (When Will I?)", the previously unavailable track from The Believer intended for use as a bonus in the UK. I will only leave this up for a short time as I don't want to steal the thunder [cue sound effect] of an imminent UK release. Can you believe that neither I nor the 97's have ever had an album released in the UK? They won't know what hit them.Speaking of Old 97's, big things are afoot this summer as we appear in The Break Up. A large Hollywood motion picture. And in June (I think) Rhino will release Hit By A Train: Best of Old 97's. How cool is that? Personally, I'm daydreaming about the next 97's record in the studio.
It'll be fun to see those guys again. But for the time being, daddy's got a record to flog, I mean promote.Speaking of daddy... (when did this turn into a Sylvia Plath poem?), my family is about to be enlarged by two feet [insert graphic of cute footprints]. I'll be returning from the quick promo trip to Japan that caps off this tour at the end of April and within days (knock wood) we'll have a little daughter. Max (2&1/2 and a genius, really!) says he's going to be nice to the baby. We'll see. He IS a pretty nice kid usually.I'd like to take a moment before signing off to respond to a question I've gotten from more than one of you, my friends. A very serious question that I feel I have to answer, for not to do so would constitute egregious negligence and a personal affront to each and every fan. The question so many have posed? Where is my chin-mole on the photo that appears on the album cover?
My chin-mole (I prefer to call it a beauty mark, but hey...) is not apparent on The Believer's cover because the half of my face (my right) on which it resides is in shadow. Silhouette. Relief. I am reminded of the time I met Dolly Parton. She commented, "If me and you was to kiss, our moles'd be kissin' too."It's been great reading all your messages and comments. Thanks for being so cool. I'm probably coming soon to where you live. Sign up for the mailing list or whatever. Come to the shows. We're having a kickass time.yrs,Rhett

yes. i've been partially in love with rhett miller since the late 90's. besides being quite attractive, we see here how he is just plain nice. one of the times i met him we had a nice little conversation about writing fiction and raymond carver. he also rawked the black cat so hard last week he got a little bloody nose (some have insinuated drugs may be involved but he's so darn coherent and smart and nice and i dunno i'm not saying he's totally clean but i don't think he's a cokehead). anyway i totally dig RM on myspace.
I've got a crush, and it's building.
And MJ, that is so sweet you got to talk to him and I am so je-a-lous!
