DC Reflections

Today walking from the Metro to work, I fell in love. The object of my affection was a small, light brown leather messenger bag with a vertical baby blue leather stripe set off to the side. After gawking at the bag for a second (or a minute), I noticed the lucky owner. He was wearing a white button down with a light blue plaid (same color as the bag stripe)--belt and shoes that matched the bag, and a odwalla drink in his hand. After admiring the guys sense of style, and knowning he probably wasn't interested in me (or any of my friends), I glanced at the person next to me. She was probably about 6' tall and thin-with a stylish butch haircut, but the most interesting thing was what she was wearing. She had on faded blue denim shorts that went down to her knee, a mens navy blue blazer, a hawaiian shirt, teva sandals, and a small hemp back-pack. Most of the time, you can easily tell the difference between a tourist, dc commuter, and a homeless person, but this time the lines were blurred a tiny bit and I was perplexed. I was pretty sure she was probably a stylish homeless person. As I got close to my office building, I saw her sit down on a park bench. I realized she was probably a homeless person waiting for the truck that delivers breakfast to the homeless at the edge of the park every day at 8:30. God Bless.
