this is a statue of a Civil War general (not one of the major ones) that the park across from where I work is named for.
The branches? As you can see, the tulip trees are budding, and are preparing to bloom. They bloom a few weeks before the cherry blossoms. Personally, the cherry blossoms are gorgeous and have the better location, but the tulip trees are my favorite.
I have some civil war related photos today myself. Is the statue in DC of George Meade? (just considering since he lead the Army of the Potomac and Fort MEade (where I was born) is just outsie of DC
They are tulip trees. Tulips bloom 2 weeks or so before the japanese cherry trees.
The General? Not Meade. Meade is a "major" Civil War general. I always forget this guy's name, but its on his statue which I walk by at least twice a day
Nice looking statue. If you catch the name send it to me. The jonquils are already blooming here in Georgia. I'm afraid though we have another cold snap in March. We always do.
Thanks for visiting my WW. My painting has a connection to your town....
I have some tulip trees in my yard. They are little ones right now though, but they grow pretty quickly. We'll expect you to report back tomorrow on the name of this minor General! LOL
Great shots! Looks like the buds are almost ready to break? Spring must me just around the corner.... we're still covered in snow over here... Happy WW!

Is that from Gettysburg? That statute looks very familiar for some reason!

So that's how a tulip tree looks like. Are these where tulip flowers grow or is it different.
Thanks for the visit.
