For Rich....

I took my "new" roadbike on a ride from Rosslyn to Mount Vernon. The ride kicked my butt..I had 19 miles in me..the ride was 19.5. But it was good to be back riding, and I slept 13 hours last night..the most I've slept in one time in years. Saturday it'll be another 20 miles.

I just wanted to tell you that I love you, and not *just* because you are a biking goddess.

I've done that ride. Isn't the last mile coming into Mt. Vernon the worst!?!?! I seriously considered throwing myself into the Potomac a couple times just so I didn't have to keep going, ha.

That's the part that nearly did me in! After I made it through, (and walked the last little hill) I laid on one of the benches for 15 minutes and then dragged myself over to the faucet and dunked my head and washed myself. Then I felt a refreshed.

Do you find riding in your sandals is comfortable, or was that just for posing for the shot? Looks like a nice rig. I'm trying to get motivated to get mine tuned up and ride in to work each day. Thanks for the encouragement!

Sandals are fine for less than 5 miles. My bike seat was a little too high (I didn't bring an allen wrench), and I was pretty much pedaling on my toes the whole time so by mile 10 or so, my feet ached because my toes kept sliding in the tevas and they are still a little sore. Its a funny injury. Next weekend I'm going to bite the bullet and wear shoes. I'll eventually get clip-in pedals for this bike(have the shoes and pedals for my mt bike) but not yet.

Well sounds like fun sis. That looks like a sweet bike I like it. You probably heard but we went hiking and we ended up going 18 miles Saturday and 24 miles on a overnight trip. The only close casualties were lady, bruno, and dad.

I didn't know you bought a road bike.

Mom- I got it a couple of weeks before we met in Denver. Its at least 10 years old..but its a good bike. The guy who I bought it from used it maybe 5 or 6 times and said he kept it inside (although one of the screws is rusted).
