A 35,000 acre(as of this morning) fire called the Neola North Fire is currently burning in the Uintah Basin in North-East Utah where I'm from. 3 individuals were killed Saturday afternoon from the blaze, one I worked with my first couple of seasons with the Forest Service as a timber cruiser/fire fighter. Needless to see, the pix from the fire are making me reflective on several levels: As a Basinite, as a firefighter, and my own views about fire. My heart goes out to the families that were killed. I may post another article about this, but for now this super huge comment will have to do.
My GAWD that is scary! Where we live in S. Ontario we do not have these types of large scale fires, but in northern Ontario they can also be a big problem with devastating consequences. Great photo though, but what a tragedy!
I saw the report on the news last night and wondered if it was near your hometown (I'm only good with southern Utah geography). What a tragedy. I'm so sorry you lost a friend to it.
This is a beautiful photo of a horrible situation. I am sorry to hear of this happening.
In 2003 we had a lot of fires burning in our area and there were an awful lot of homes lost to the flames. You could hardly see or breath for all the smoke in the air. We were so very fortunate that no humans lost their lives.
I'm so sorry to hear about this fire and damages it has done to all the families around it. My prayers and thought are with you, will be checking up later on how everything is going on. God bless you all.
What a sad thing to lose people in a fire. We are dealing with a tragedy in our town, too. We lost some teens in a car wreck yesterday. We've lost 8 teens in the last 5 years in our town. My children are so sad.

No worries. He wasn't really a friend, but I did work under him on some timber sales.
Not many people who aren't from the area or have family there know where these little towns are that the fire are by.
God, I thought that was CGI!
No, that's home.
Oh no!!!
God bless those poor families! Don't you wish all the rain in Texas would find it's way up there and stop that?
That is horrible!

Love it, happy 4th!
Great shot! I know it's a terrible shot as well because something is burning, but the colors are wonderful. Well done.
We saw that fire on our way to Torrey last Friday. None of our shots were as memorable.

But seriously, fires are tough, we get a lot of them here in Australia. I hope no-one gets hurt.
