Quote of the Day

I've been chin-deep in work the past week, thanks to FEHB Open Season, and my regularly scheduled projects at work, but I couldn't resist sharing this gem. I was editing a memo that was transcribed for me and found this:

The Citizen’s Award for Bravery is granted to a private citizen who risked his/her live to save the life of a Departmental employee sewing in the line of
duty or the life of any other person while on property owned by or entrusted
to the Department.

That's why we sing the praises of the pioneers.....on top of all the other dangers they dealt with.....the sewing!! It is quite a dangerous task. Definately worthy of a metal.

Hey now, I totally relate to the lurking dangers of sewing. As a novice seamstress, I've almost poked an eye out using my seam ripper. It's a real shame more people aren't aware of the risks involved.

Daisy, I guess this is the time to admit I totally sewed through my finger when I was in 8th grade.

Ahhhhh that makes me hurt/cringe/shiver just thinking about it!!! Thank you for planting the seeds of a new nightmare!:)

Jillian- Oh yeah, I raised my hand and then pulled the needle out before my teacher came over. She's an old family friend (she ran around with my uncle in college) and she gave me grief about it.
