I adore the smart-alec, dumb ass, who writes lonely like few others alive can.
I love that his 2007 album was named easy tiger.
I get a kick out of the fact he calls himself hard working if slightly erratic.
I even found myself smirking but empathizing when hearing about his some of his '07 shows. The last 5 years or so as a RA fan has been tumultuous, to say the least, but I'm still on the ride.
Now its 2008-another year, the same Ryan?
Yeah, pretty much. I believe it was late '06 when he released something like 10 albums only on his website. Many were showcasing his sense of humor. Some were showcasing his death metal talents (His death metal cover of Shania Twain? Brilliant). All 80 or so shows showed that the man has to be constantly coming up with stuff. Some good, some not so good, but still impressive.
Well, apparently spent this weekend in his bedroom and apartment recording, filming and making videos. He released 5 videos of varying quality and seriousness. He released them by himself and even if you don't get a chance to watch them, check out his descriptions on youtube. Classic Ryan.
Anyway, the gem out of them all (including Satanic Witches of course) is his Saturday Night Bedroom Show where he performs "Everybody Knows." Even you haters of Ryan this year, take a gander. Those who don't know to much of him, check it out. You just may fall in love in the next couple of minutes.
He's got a couple of poems or lyrics scrolling on a couple of the videos. I for some reason transcribed this poem, and then realized at the last line he wrote it for me. Well, okay, there's probably others with my oldest nick name. But I still think its mine. And hilarious. Enjoy.
Each Day
In this haunting stable
That was ours
No matter how you see it now
Has me
For a prison mate
A cell block clown
And
This place
It comes
With
Sudden clucks
Duck like
And heart attacks
Because the bed was never soft
Nor the moment
Nor the lift
But inside the stations of our old
Our young await
Restless for new days
And new crushes
Still bitter like the cherry bomb
In a flat soda
I carry enough love
For two
One of them me
The other only the mystery
Of how
It all began
Perfect and dumb
And would I do it all again
But I did
Oh didn’t I Red?
A little Satanic Witches to end with. Enjoy. Clips like this make me realize I'm still a 14 year old boy at heart even if Hot Rod sucked.
