I haven't spoke to Shelece for a while, so I was happy to get a message from her a few days ago asking if I was "crafting" lately. Well, this morning on an embroidery blog I read, I found that a Shelece in Montana had an account on Etsy and was making these fabulous hand quilts. Yup, I'm pretty sure its "my Shelece." Isn't she awesome?
Blanket for Dolly
Shelece says: "My grandma deeply instilled in me the idea that dolls must be kept warm. I remember when I was little taking my doll over to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving dinner. I arrived all bundled up in my red wool coat with my doll tucked under my arm. Grandma met me at the door and gasped 'get that baby in here this minute, she's only dressed in a swim suit and a dish towel, she'll get sick and die in this weather!' Horrified I hurriedly bundled her under my coat to keep back the certain death my grandma knew was lurking around the corner for my unprotected doll."

story time, my wife's father was a carpenter part time in tooele utan, hardly had any work which is not uncommon for carpenters{ my mentally ill son works part time as a carpenter] so one christmas all they could give the kids, both girls were red wool coats, well my wife got too close to the coal stove and burned a hole in her coat and she thought her father who was sometimes abusive{AN ITALIAN FROM THE OLD WORLD} said, hey the punishment of standing near the stove and the reminder of that imperfect coat will be all that you could bear in punishment
that is AWESOME... both the art and your care for naked babydolls.
