Random thoughts

I'm lying in bed this evening thinking about the past day, all the people I'm grateful for, and Ryan Adams. Well, I'm grateful for the crazy genius that is David R. Adams also. I'm feeling a lot better, I'm still winded, but I'm doing so much better than I was 24 hours ago. Hopefully, this will be my last night here and I'll be able to get better at home (and work on Tuesday at least part day). The Hospital staff here has been very good. Even though I'm not staying at the closest hospital to my house, it's still only a 20 minute drive and I have a private room with a couch and a television with cable. Earlier this evening, we were gawking at Paula Dean's cooking. Deep fried pumpkin cake anyone? Fried Cranberry sauce? Kermit the frog was on cooking with Paula in a cute lil' apron. Watching Kermit (even though Jim Henson's Kermit is the gold standard) is always a pleasure. I finally received a blessing from a close family friend early this evening, and that was a very nice experience. I'm glad to have some "family" here in the area. Anyway, I was thinking about how kind and nice my friends, parents, brothers, and friends have been. Thank you all for your well-wishes. I really appreciate it, more than you know probably.
Anyway, I've been meaning to post about Cardinology, Ryan Adams newest CD, and easily my favorite since Cold Roses. Although there isn't any classic standouts on the album like "come pick me up" or "the stars go blue," it's a great, solid album. His influences are easily picked out, but like any great artist can, he can make them his own. There's a little Willie Nelson, U2, Grateful Dead, Dylan of course, and others mixed into the album. I'm going to try and write a little better review when my brain is less foggy, but for now, here's a great performance by Ryan on Letterman a few weeks ago of "Fix it" on Letterman. Enjoy. Ok, I'm going to catch a few z's before my next treatment.
