I could write a flowery (silly) tribute about how Scooby Doo has been a big part of my life since I was little, how I have a scooby doo pillow case that I made that is still on my bed etc etc but instead I'll just share the following memory:

When I was age 2-4, we lived in Price. Our across the street neighbors had a little boy named Martin Sontagg who was my first boyfriend and first bestfriend outside my extended family. I think I remember watching Scooby Doo all the time in my teepee in the afternoons (hot, huh?--we were 4!). When we moved, we wrote each other letters, and one he sent me when we were in first or second grade was that he named his dog Scooby Doo. I thought it was seriously the coolest thing ever, and I think I must've been still bitter that we named my Spot, Spot.

note to my parents: Even though I understood about Dad's Spot, I still thought naming my Spot Spot was kind of dumb. But if I ever get in a situation where I have kids and a spotted puppy, Spot he'll be. My Spot needs a namesake and kids need a Spot. Oh, and I've always thought it was really cool that I got to pick out my Spot from the litter.

Scooby Doo was a wonderful cartoon, and one I loved to watch as a kid. I don't have any anecdote like you about watching it as a kid, but just that it helped give me some sense of fun amidst challenges a child should not have to deal with.

I thought you might do a tribute to him today. I saw that he died this morning. The world could use more cartoons like Scooby. Thanks for sharing.

Sccoby Doo's full name was Scoobert Doo. I just learned that reading an article about Takamoto. I seriously want to research him now.

Scooby Do was my little sister's favorite show.

Scooby doo scared me as a little kid--

I liked garfield. Maybe I'm a cat person?
