Yes, John Mayer made the cut. Before you flame me now, check it out. Besides, the man called Ryan Seacrest the Anderson Cooper of the E Channel a few weeks ago. I gave him a few points (he's still in the negative) for that remark. I even think he may know about the Cooper man-crush on Seacrest (its not like its secret, its been documented on CNN)--and the comment was jab about that-or am I giving him too much credit?

Who knew that the surge of troops wasn’t the answer to bringing peace to Iraq? No, John Mayer’s “Waiting for the World to Change” has finally done what many deemed impossible, solve the Iraq Conflict.
As Al-Sadr said,

Vice President Cheney commented saying, “On a personal note, its a sad day for me. I'd grown rather attached to the Iraq war. I'll be sad to see it go. At least there's always Iran."

Patty Griffin
Although Patty Griffin is a well-known and respected songwriter (she was Paste’s #19 greatest living singer-songwriter), she’s better known as the writer of songs Emmylou Harris, The Dixie Chicks, Jessica Simpson, Bette Midler and others have sung and recorded. However, ironically, her voice is a perfect conduit for her lyrics which can be best described in three words, “loneliness, regret and reminiscence.” She has one of the most achingly, hauntingly beautiful voices in music today. Small wonder she’s often covered by country singers.
Her newest album, “Children Running Through,” is a worthy addition to her already laurelled discography, but I honestly still haven’t wrapped my head around it and I’ve listened to it four times through. I'm not saying at this point its her best piece of work, but it definitely won't let you down.

Neko Case
Neko Case has been a favorite of mine since I first heard “Twin Cinemas” from her band, The New Pornographers. Needless to say, when I heard that she was covering Bob Dylan’s “Buckets of Rain,” I thought, this may stand on its feet as well as the original (and that’s saying a lot, as Blood on the Tracks is canon in my world). Needless to say, it does, and you should take a listen-see if you don’t know who Neko is. Pure bliss.
