Show and Tell

I've had these pillowcases for a while, and I finally decided to embroider them over Christmas. I usually do projects for others, so it was a little weird coming up with something just for me. I was going for a seventies retro look--in redwork. I thought about doing the ladybug (the insect the turtle is looking at in pink and red, but ended up doing it in red too.)The light green matches one of the main art pieces in my room and the red matches my white duvet cover which has one red embroidered flower on it. They work, or at least I think they do.

I love the turtle. How cute. Is there anything you can't do?

shannon-Thanks
Boo-glad you like
Rae-breathing. Most people take it for granted. Sometimes I have problems with simple in and out motions.

i love the owls. they remind me of my mama, who had a thing for owls in the seventies.

one of these days i'll learn to embroider. but i think it will have to wait until after grad school. or at least until i need a break from crochet and knitting.

amelia-Thanks--that's exactly the look I was going for--owls in the 70's--

embroidering is just like crochet--the key is getting your stitch even. Once you have an even stitch your good as gold. Sure there's other stitches to learn in both but its just about figuring out how to do it so it looks even, ya know?

I love them! I'm going to have to add a similar project to my very long list of "useful crafts that I'd like to do sometime if I ever have time."
