Christmas was very nice here in Vernal. I celebrated the big day with my parents and one sibling as the other one is/was still on his honeymoon. We presents, and due to all the snow, I was able to take my new snowshoes out in the pasture and do laps.. one thing I learned, is that our dogs don't understand snow shoes and tripped me up a few times.
I've shared the story of my first cake on here recently, and I think I've shared my 15th birthday story, where I made my own cake and then started singing to myself. Well, this year my cake nearly went to the dogs. My mom decided to make an "easy" tres leches cake for my birthday. After she cooled the cake, she poked the cake and poured the dulce de leche on top. Not having enough room in the fridge, she put the top on the cake pan and put it on top of the barbecue outside. Well, 15 minutes later my dad and I happened to look outside and saw one of the dogs, Bruno, pushing a metal box across the snowy deck. We both started talking about what he was doing, when my mom heard us and rushed outside. Luckily, the top of the cake pan hadn't come off yet, we caught the dogs before there was any lethal damage to the cake. The cake was a little worse for wear, and the dogs had been whipped into a dulce de leche frenzy, but luckily they didn't actually taste the cake. Other than that, the holidays have been nice. We played some cards with the Mortensons, Steven and I just got back from snowshoeing up by Red Mountain (above our house here in Maeser), and my mom started cooking for the wedding shower on Saturday.

Happy Birthday! Sorry I was late. I wasn't much near a computer.
hope you had a great birthday... even if your cake almost got ruined.
Happy Belated my friend, I've missed you! Your blogs about vernal remind me of the song... "please, celebrate me home." and gives me a warm peace inside :)
Hey if you see a married black dude & white chick roaming around in vernal, give them a shout out... that's my brother and sister in law!
your post inspired me to order a tres leches at cafe rio yesterday. i'm sure it's nothing in comparison to your mother's but i savored every bite. happy bday! thanks for sharing.
This is where "going to the dogs" is not just a useful expression. Truth in words, yessirreebob.
