I went to Yellowstone with my family when I was little. It is such a surreal thing to see the bison. The picture is beautiful, and inspires me to plan a trip for my own family.
We passed these bison/buffalo on the road/trail within a few feet. Nothing to protect you if they should decide to be aggressive. They have massive shoulders, but are smaller than most Angus or Hereford bulls. Still, very impressive & a bit intimidating. Joy's MOM
That reminded me of my trip to Yellowstone. My mate and I drove around this bend in the road and walking right down the middle of the road was this huge bison. We had to stop the car pull over to the curb and just wait for it too mosey on by. Awesome creature up close.

YOu were in Yellowstone in the winter? Wow, I've never been there this time of year...I bet it is very pretty darned cold. Especially the Tetons.

I hope you took that with a telephoto lens. I wouldn't want to be that close to those bad boys! :-)
