50 Years Today...

I wouldn't be a "good" Sherpa (okay Sherpas are from Nepal, mostly) if I didn't mention the 50 year anniversary of when the Dalai Lama fled Tibet in 1959. And if you only read one book about the Dalai Lama, "Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer. One of my favorite "memoirs" of all time. If you have any other suggestions of books to read about this period of time, let me know!

Whoa. I never realized. March 10, 2009 was my Mom's 50th birthday. I guess she has some strange cosmic connection to Tibet. Just thought I'd share - too weird.

Putz-Not total peace, that's the ultimate wish....just a sovereign nation.

That's pretty cool. Have you ever read the book Seven Years in Tibet?

i would rather you read "three cups of tea" insrtead..thart one should be required reading by anyone waging war in afganistan, pakistan, iraq or iran,,including our present president big O..i REALLY HAVE CONFIDENCE IN HIM EVEN THOUGH I QUESTION HIS STANCE ON ABORTION or stem cell although i am not quite clear on how his stem cell research hurts that much
